Core Research Laboratories based in the Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre (MIB)

Our core research laboratories are located on the third floor in the MIB and house 80 research scientists within dedicated specialist groups that have expertise in:-

Enzymology
Molecular Biology
Microbiology
Synthetic Organic Chemistry
Analytical Chemistry
Protein Biochemistry
Protein Crystallography
Bioreactors
Robotics

The MIB promotes bioscience and biotechnology at the highest international level whilst training future generations of interdisciplinary investigators in key skills that will enable them to work successfully across the disciplinary interfaces with 500 scientists in up to 85 research groups and with space available for visiting researchers.

From this modern facility the CoEBio3 will deliver cutting edge research in biocatalysis and metabolic engineering that will serve to enhance UK competitiveness in R&D and manufacturing in biocatalysis.

Also within these laboratories space and equipment are allocated for industrial placement training positions whereby industrial affiliates can second staff to learn specialist techniques and develop new skills and technology.
