Conferences
2008
October 12-17, 2008. Dalian, China. 13th International Biotechnology Symposium (IBS) and Exhibition. The International Biotechnology Symposium (IBS) is organized under the auspices of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). The first IBS was held in 1960 in Rome under the name "International Fermentation Symposium". The name "International Biotechnology Symposium" was first adopted in 1984 in New Delhi, India. Since its inception, IBS has been successfully convened in 10 different countries. Today, it is recognized as the largest international conference in the rapidly growing field of biotechnology. The upcoming IBS is the first to be held in China. http://www.ibs2008.org/Scope.htm
October 17-18, 2008. Arlington, Texas Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Symposium (BIOT-2008). Research and development in biotechnology requires the collaboration of scientists and engineers in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, chemical engineering, and electrical engineering. This symposium brings together scientists, engineers and scholars from relevant fields with practitioners from industry in order to help each group to understand progress made in the area as a whole. http://www.biotconf.org/
25-30 October, 2008, Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain, Protein Design and Evolution for Biocatalysis. The meeting will bring together internationally renowned speakers who will review the current state of knowledge in the field of protein design and evolution for biocatalysis. The symposium will be the third event in a series held in Paris (2002) and Greifswald (2006). The main objective of the 2008 meeting will be to intensify discussion and collaboration between experimentalists with theoreticians, which is needed for development of novel biocatalysts by combining directed evolution with rational protein design. The meeting will be highly interdisciplinary through the participation of speakers with various backgrounds and research interests. The lectures will span the fields of mechanistic enzymology, biocatalysis, protein crystallography, computer simulations, phylogenetics, structural bioinformatics and synthetic biology. http://www.esf.org/?id=4569
